Vikings stunned in NCAA opener

Published by Curt at 4:16 pm under sports

Kansas pulled off a Cinderella shocker in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament, meaning Portland State’s dream of a national title ends in Omaha. It’s a blow for the Vikings, but they can walk away knowing the won both the regular-season and post-season titles in the Big Sky – one of the most-competitive basketball conferences in the nation.

The Chickenhawks fielded a team of five would-be felons, many of whom couldn’t find their own college campus if given a map. Brandon Rush probably hasn’t even set foot in the state of Kansas except on game days. Likely all academic standouts too, at least in the Sunflower State.

So now my attention will be focused on Austin Peay, which is predicted to be the national champion by my office pool’s chaos bracket. All winners selected solely on the outcome of a coin toss. They’re picked to knock off the North Carolina Tar Heels in the title game. Seriously.

Dude, PSU played a good game. Congrats on their first NCAA tournament invitation. And happy birthday, too.
